Psalm
62: 6-7(NLT), “He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will
not be shaken. 7; My victory and honor
come from God alone. He is my refuge, a
rock where no enemy can reach me.”
Life is riddled with troubles of every kind. From
relationships with our spouse, significant other, family or friends - none of
us can escape it. What becomes a rocky situation is when trouble comes in the form
of a person that you’ve become emotionally attached to. Someone that started
out as a potential life partner that would have your back through thick and
thin. Not only did the person not have your back, but they also became the
person you trust the least and despise the most.
Tough times are not meant to dismantle your faith in God;
it’s meant to make you stronger than you were before the toughness begin. What
ends up happening often is the hurt you experience takes much longer to
overcome than you thought. The Psalmist shares the remedy for anyone who is in
the midst of falling prey to the tricks of the adversary. We’re reminded that we
are not alone – God is our rock, our fortress, our refuge. Nothing can
penetrate what God establishes.
There’s no sugar-coating, the truth that life is not
easy. Without the help and guidance of
our Heavenly Father, it’s no way we could have victory over the enemy or live a
peaceful life. Psalm 60:5 (NLT), “Now rescue your beloved people. Answer and
save us by your power.” King David was in a rough situation with his
enemies, yet he remembered God’s covenant with the Israelites and prayed for
God to rescue them – and of course God did. It’s no different from us today. God
loves us too much to allow us to perish at the hands of our adversaries.
God is all the help and resource we need. You can weather any storm - overcome any and
all adversity when you take refuge in God’s love. You may ask, “How do I do that”. Trust Him! It’s the only way to please Him
and He requires it from us. Jesus Christ told us whenever we’re faced with
tribulation - “Come to me, all of you who
are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” We’ve got to
learn how to let go of what no longer serves us – and that’s the guilt trip we
land in while going through hardship.
We can't remain stifled by our circumstances, God
tells us we don’t ever have to be unhappy, sad or depressed if we would only
come to him with all of our stuff. Jesus Christ said anytime we have fears,
worries or tumultuous situations, to leave it with him. Many Christians have a
difficult time surrendering and letting go.
Pain won’t go away until you confront what’s at the core of it, you
can't be afraid to do the grunt work on the inside of in order to live the
victorious life that our Lord and Savior died on the cross for us to live.
“You can be a powerful woman if you decide
to let go of the pain and let the love of God in”. Faith comes by hearing. Hearing the right words and acting on it will
unleash the power that is locked within you. Your journey to healing and trusting
in God’s promises will set your feet on the kind of rest and victory, that only
God can provide.
