From the very beginning, the enemy thought he had won. The moment Eve bit into that forbidden fruit—the one God warned Adam not to touch—he thought, Got ‘em. What he didn’t see coming was that even in that very moment, God’s plan was already in motion. Redemption wasn’t an afterthought. It was the plan from the start.
Ephesians 1:4–5 (NLT) reminds us, “Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.” Long before the first sin, before the serpent slithered onto the scene, God had already chosen to love us and bring us into His family through Jesus Christ.
Before time even had a name, God knew. He knew sin would creep in. He knew we'd fall. And He already had the solution: our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The enemy really thought he could throw off God’s plan, but newsflash—God’s Will doesn’t fumble. His strategy for salvation has been unfolding since the beginning, flawless and unshaken. Every move the enemy made only served to push God's divine Will forward. Nothing satan did, and nothing he does now, can ever override the victory already won through Jesus Christ.
The beautiful thing about our Heavenly Father is that no matter how many mistakes we make, they never derail His plan and purpose. Even when we stumble, fall, or flat-out disobey, God’s plan doesn’t fall apart. It holds. His purpose remains. He’s not shocked by our missteps. He doesn’t abandon us. Instead, He offers redemption, realignment, and restoration.
Romans 8:28 (NLT) anchors us in this truth: “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” Everything—your failures, your pain, your detours—everything can be used by God for your good when you love Him and align yourself with His call.
Nothing the enemy tries can cancel what God has declared over your life. That’s where our confidence must rest. Romans 8:37 declares, “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” We are not just survivors—we are more than conquerors. The devil can throw all he has, but it still won’t be enough to stop God’s plan.
Proverbs 19:21 (NLT) puts it this way: “You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.” Our lives may take unexpected turns. People may disappoint us. We may take wrong steps. But God’s purpose? It remains steady. It was never built on our perfection—it’s secured by His sovereignty.
Deceitful and relentless, the enemy may think he has a grip on us. But don’t get it twisted: God is always working behind the scenes. He is always guiding, always redeeming, always setting things in place. He sees the full picture, and nothing escapes His view. Not your heartbreak. Not your struggle. Not your fear. So even when it feels like the enemy has the upper hand—even when you’re weary and worn—know this: the enemy does not have the final say. Jesus does. Don’t be afraid. Take heart in Christ. Watch as God takes what the enemy meant to destroy you and uses it to display His glory through your life.
