God is True

Troubling times are an unavoidable part of the born-again Christian journey. When the weight of our struggles feels overwhelming and relief seems far away, it can be hard to believe that brighter days are ahead. Yet, we can find comfort in the assurance of God's promises. He will see us through the darkness and bring us into the light.

When you experience a healthy dose of God’s truth in your life, and you witness the heft of all the treasures it brings, turning away from it becomes unthinkable. You begin to see how His love, grace, and guidance transform your heart and mind, offering peace in chaos and hope in despair. Each promise in His Word becomes a lifeline, drawing you closer to Him even when circumstances seem bleak. In those moments of doubt or struggle, the Holy Spirit gently reminds you of God’s past faithfulness, igniting a deep trust that helps you persevere. Embracing His truth shapes not only your perspective but also your very identity, grounding you in a love that never falters.

All of us face times when it seems that answers to prayers are not manifesting as quickly as we’d like. Rather than basking in the goodness and grace God has always shown us, we may become disappointed, so much so that commitment to Heavenly Father waivers. Romans 3:3-4 (NLT) encourages us to transport our minds and heart higher rather than letting them sink lower: “True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they were unfaithful, does that mean God will be unfaithful? Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him, “You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.” The Apostle Paul emphasizes that God’s truth and faithfulness remain unchanged, even when we fall short.

Our Heavenly Father doesn’t punish us when we get it wrong; instead, He guides us through our struggles, helping us grow and mature so that our faith becomes stronger. In every setback, we find an opportunity for deeper reliance on Him, reminding us that His love and purpose for our lives are unwavering. You may not understand everything happening in your life, and you might even doubt the existence of heaven and hell, but one undeniable truth remains: God will never leave us nor forsake us. He loved us so deeply that He sent His Son to be the payment for our sins. Jesus Christ chose to come down and walk among us, offering grace and redemption.

If you choose to turn away from our Lord and Savior, you may miss out on the fullness of his love and grace, which invites us into a deeper relationship with him. It’s a mistake to let anything diminish our faith. A person who opens their heart and mind to God’s guidance, even when circumstances are less than ideal, is someone who truly honors Him. This humility will always be rewarded. As Romans 8:28 (NLT) assures us, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Trusting in His plan, even when we don’t always understand what is happening, allows us to navigate those storms with hope, knowing that He will make sure we come out on the other side.

Those of us who hear and believe the Word demonstrate our trust in God by actively living it out in our everyday lives. As God’s children and followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are going to face tribulations. Jesus reminds us in John 16:33 (NLT), “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” This reality calls us to be strong in Christ through our faith in God, trusting that He holds us up with His mighty right hand. God doesn’t want to test us, nor is He withholding blessings from us. Instead, He wants us to grow in faith and character, reflecting His love and strength in a world that can often be cruel. So, let’s deepen our desire to be like Christ and to live a holy life, knowing that through it all, we can hold fast to the truth that God is true. His promises are unwavering, and His presence is a constant source of hope and guidance.■
