Bigger Fights and Even Bigger Victories

When the Enemy Comes Hard, God Raises Us Higher

Sometimes we forget we’ve got a real enemy out here. 1 Peter 5:8 (NLT) tells us plain:
“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” Too often, we don’t take that seriously. We let our guard down, and the enemy creeps in, stealing peace, joy, relationships—anything precious he can get his hands on. Some of us have learned the hard way, losing battles we didn’t even realize we were in. The truth is, it’s a mistake to underestimate the devil and think he won’t use people or circumstances to trip us up. God already warned us to stay alert. That means living with eyes wide open, rooted in His Word, so our spiritual sight, hearing, and strength stay sharp.

David’s Faith in the Face of a Giant

Take David, for example. He was just a boy facing down a giant who terrified grown men. By all the odds, he should’ve been crushed. But David wasn’t banking on odds—he was banking on God. He stepped out there with nothing but a sling, a stone, and an unshakable confidence that God would show up. And He did.

That moment wasn’t just about Goliath falling. It was training ground. That victory stretched David’s faith and prepared him for bigger battles down the road. By the time he became king, David already knew—if God delivered me then, He’ll deliver me again. And that’s where we’ve got to land too. Humility before God kept David covered, and humility will keep us covered as well.

When Trouble Knocks Us Down

As many of us have experienced, life can blindside you, and do so when you least expect it. And sometimes, it’s not just one thing, but darts can fly from several different directions. It can feel like the ground is ripped out from under our feet. We get devastated, and too often, we get stuck staring at the problem instead of looking to God. In Psalm 73:26 (NLT), David gives us a lifeline that sets our sights on the eternal love and power of our Heavenly Father: “My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.”

That’s the reminder we need: everything in this life is temporary, but God’s strength is eternal. Through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we’ve been given access to every spiritual blessing. And the Word shows us not to get distracted by what’s happening to the left or the right, but to keep our eyes fixed on the Father. Isaiah 40:31 (NLT) tells us, “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” That’s what God does when we lean on Him instead of our own strength.

Faith Is the Engine

Troubles have a way of draining us dry, leaving us stuck in questions we can’t answer and pain we can’t shake. The enemy whispers that God has forgotten, that maybe we’re on our own this time. But those lies don’t get the last word—because faith refuses to die when life gets hard.

Faith is the engine. It’s what keeps you pressing forward when fear is screaming at us to turn back. It’s what says “God’s got me” even when nothing around you looks like it. Hebrews 11:1 (NLT) tells us, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” Faith is relentless, steady, and unshakable, not because of us but because of the God we’re trusting. It doesn’t wait for the finish line to celebrate—it fuels us in the middle of the storm, driving us toward the victory God already promised.

Bigger Victories

Every battle you face is not just about the moment—it’s about the making of you. The enemy comes hard because he knows what’s inside of you is even greater. But don’t miss this: every time the devil tries to take you out, God is setting you up to stand taller, believe deeper, and walk stronger. Remember what Romans 8:37 (NLT) tells us: “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”

So when the fight feels bigger than you, remember—it’s not supposed to be won in your strength anyway. The same God who backed David, the same God who raised Jesus from the dead, is the same God who’s covering you right now. That means even in your weakest hour, you’re never fighting alone. The battle may be fierce, but the victory is guaranteed in Christ.

Every battle is either building your faith or revealing it. Don’t despise the fight—it’s training you for bigger fights and even bigger victories.

Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank You for the battles that don’t break us but build us. Thank You for Jesus Christ, our Savior, who already secured the victory on the Cross. Teach us to stay alert, humble, and rooted in Your Word so that we don’t just fight—we overcome. Strengthen our faith to trust You when the fight feels heavy, and remind us that with You on our side, the victory is already won. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, I pray, amen.

Strength Is Born in the Surrender

God’s path to making you stronger may not look like you expected—but it’s always good.

What You Believe Will Shape How You Live

At some point, we all face the soul-piercing question: Do I truly believe Jesus is the answer? Because if He is, that belief must show up in how you live, respond, pray, and press forward. Proverbs 4:23 warns us to guard our hearts, because everything flows from them. What you let in will eventually leak out. So when we keep our hearts aligned with Christ—praying deeply, clinging to truth, and resisting the negativity of this world—we will start to see victories not because we’re strong, but because we’re surrendered. Strength doesn’t come from striving—it comes from yielding to the One who holds all power.

You’ve Been Made New

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) says, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” This is our reality in Christ, and it’s something to be incredibly excited about. We are new creations—the old is gone. That’s real. Our spirits are made brand new when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, but the transformation of the soul (mind, will, and emotions) takes much longer. We still have to make a conscious decision to line up our soul with our spirit, and that takes diligence, humility, and surrender.

The Holy Spirit won’t barge in and clean house without your permission. You’ve got to give Him the keys. And the only way we mature is by making that choice daily—to bring our thoughts and bodies under the Spirit’s authority. God gave us responsibility because growth requires our participation.

In the Waiting, God Is Growing You

Romans 8:24-25 (MSG) says, “That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don’t see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy. Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along.” Most of us are waiting for something glorious to happen to our lives, and God is meeting this need. Whether we know it or not, transformation is the glory we’re waiting on, and it is happening to us this very moment.

Yes, the waiting is uncomfortable, but it’s not wasted. It enlarges us. The tears, the tests, the tension—all of it builds spiritual muscle if we let God have His way in us. It doesn’t mean the pain doesn’t cut deep. But it does mean that every ounce of what you’ve been through can become a testimony of endurance and faith. Romans 5:3-5 (NLT) reminds us, “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”

You can’t carry old lies into a new identity

There’s a battle going on in the space between your ears. As new creations in Christ, we often stand at the crossroads between who we used to be and who we’re becoming—and the bridge between the two is the mind. The enemy knows that if he can tangle your thoughts, he can choke your purpose. That’s why Romans 12:2 urges us not to copy the behaviors of the world, but to let God renew our thinking. And that renewal starts with surrender. It means laying down the old ways of reacting, the comfort zones of fear, and the lies we’ve lived with for far too long. You can’t step into divine strength while clinging to worldly patterns. If we want the life Christ died to give us, we’ve got to surrender our thoughts to His truth—and let that become our new normal.

You were never meant to live bound by what Jesus already broke

Some of us are so used to pain, we’ve made it part of our personality. Shame, fear, self-hatred, and old griefs ride in the passenger seat of our lives like they belong there. But Jesus already broke those chains. And if you want to walk in the strength He provides, it starts with releasing what no longer has the right to hold you. This is the hard surrender—letting go of what hurt you, what shaped you, what you thought made you strong. It’s not instant, and it’s not easy. But it’s holy. And if you’ll give God the same energy you’ve been giving your survival mode, He’ll give you beauty for ashes. He’ll rebuild what life tried to tear down. In Him, your journey doesn’t just continue—it rises, strengthens, and becomes something unshakable.

Strength in Weakness: How God’s Power Frees Us

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
“Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”

When Surrender Brings Strength

Maria had always been a high achiever. At work, she met every deadline, took on every extra project, and tried to be everything to everyone. But inside, she was exhausted, anxious, and afraid she wasn’t enough. No matter how much she accomplished, she felt powerless against the fears and pressures pressing in on her. One day, she cried out to God, confessing her weakness and admitting she couldn’t do it all on her own. That moment became a turning point. In her surrender, she felt a supernatural strength and peace fill her heart—a reminder that God’s power works best in her weakness.

Fighting the Good Fight of Faith

Life’s challenges can leave us drained, frustrated, and doubtful. Sometimes we try to fix everything ourselves, forgetting that true strength comes from Him. 1 Timothy 6:12 (NLT) calls us to “fight the good fight of faith,” which means contending with persistence, trusting that God is bigger than our struggles. 1 John 5:4 reminds us, “For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.” Our minds are the battlefield where faith takes root and grows.

Freedom in Christ is infinitely more than a right choice—it’s THE choice for all of eternity. It's real and available to us right now. Galatians 5:1 (NLT) says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Fear, anxiety, and the weight of life are chains the enemy tries to place on us, but the Spirit of the Lord brings true liberty. 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NLT) reminds us, “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” When we lean into Him, those chains can’t hold us—His power breaks them, and we begin to walk in the freedom Christ already purchased.

Strength in Weakness

When we lean on His grace instead of our own strength, we experience His power flowing through our weakness. Philippians 4:13 reminds us that we can do all things through Christ, who gives us strength. God’s care isn’t just for today—it’s for every step of our journey. Isaiah 46:4 (NLT) says, “I will be your God throughout your lifetime—until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” His promise shows us that no matter how heavy life gets, He is faithful to carry us, strengthen us, and rescue us from every burden.

Anchored in His Word

We don’t need to have it all together. Our weakness is the perfect place for God to show up and work His power through us. As we study His Word, anchor our faith in His promises, and rely on His Spirit, we discover the freedom, confidence, and strength that can only come from Him.
